Katherine Wilkins

I am a PhD student with Dr. Liba Pejchar in the Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology. I received a B.S. in Public Relations from the University of Texas in Austin in 2008, and a Master's in Ecology from Colorado State University in 2012. My passion for working with people and nature has shaped my interest in researching human interactions with wildlife, and the ecological impacts associated with species reintroductions. My dissertation will focus on changes in Colorado bird and mammal communities, and human visitor use patterns in response to the reintroduction of North American plains bison (Bison bison) to the Soapstone Prairie Natural Area, about 30 miles North of Fort Collins. My ultimate goal involves using my experience and knowledge to teach conservation science and participate in public outreach at the college level.
